The Journal is specifically for publishing the results of scientific research on bamboo and rattan that are of interest to the large community of researchers, users and policy makers involved with these important group of plants. However only articles in which bamboo and rattan are a major component of the study are accepted.

The Journal is published in Open Access mode under a user license equivalent to the Creative Commons Attribution Non-commercial Share Alike 4.0 International License (CC BY-SA 4.0).

CC BY (Creative Commons Attribution) is a public copyright license as defined by Creative Commons, a non--profit organization that provides legal tools for sharing and use of creative works and research. Under this licence anyone is free to use and reuse the content if the original source and authors are given credit. The Creative Commons Attribution Non-commercial Share Alike 4.0 International License (CC BY-SA 4.0) permits free use, modification as long as credit is given to the source and further distribution is done on identical terms

We believe that publication under CC BY is the way forward for publicly funded research since it ensures the maximum benefit for the public while protecting the rights of authors

The scope of the Journal encompasses the following broad areas of studies on bamboo and rattan:
  • Biology, genetic resources and conservation
  • Biotechnology and genetic improvement
  • Environment
  • Propagation
  • Management of natural stands and plantations
  • Utilization, value addition and engineering applications
  • Marketing and socio-economics
  • Policy issues

Articles on any subject relevant to bamboo and rattan that does not fall in these areas may be accepted, but please write to JBR and verify before submission.

The journal is published bi-annually in June and December each year in electronic format.

Yes. Journal of Bamboo and Rattan has instituted a rigorous peer review process JBR works closely with an international team of scientists and technologists, who are experts in their respective fields process.

JBR does not accept pre-submission inquiries. If your manuscript is not ready for submission, but you would like to inquire about the suitability of your study for JBR, especially of a subject that is not listed in the scope of the journal, please email with details to jbr@kfri.org

No, there are no limits on manuscript length or numbers of figures in journal articles if the subject matter justifies the length.

No, JBR does not charge any fee for publishing articles.

After submission you can follow the status of your article at JBR by using a reference number that you’ll receive by email. Login to Authors Area, If your paper is accepted for publication, you can follow the publication status through to completion using the ‘track your article’ feature.
